SAN DIEGO, November 3, 2014 – “Dancing With The Stars” introduces a new competition theme for week 8 of Season 19. Yes, it’s week 8 already.
This week, the seven remaining couples will perform in character as famous “Dynamic Duos” of history, both fictional and real. Some of the assignments make more sense than others, but what else is new? We’re most excited to see Bethany Mota and Derek Hough dance a Salsa as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, and Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd channel Johnny and June Cash during a Paso Doble.
But wait – there’s more.
Whoever scores the highest for the week including their Dynamic Duo routine gets immunity from elimination. The other six will have a “dance off” against another couple, and the winner of each head to head competition gets a few extra points. Those six then find out who will be going home.
The second place couple gets to pick their opponent, and the opponent chosen picks either the Jive, Cha Cha Cha, or Rumba as the dance style. Couples who have already danced these routines so far in the competition have an advantage. Then the next highest scoring couple left picks their opponent, and the remaining two face off.
Don’t sweat the details. We’ll follow it all for you during tonight’s live online chat. It’s more fun with a partner, so grab someone and pull them onto our virtual ballroom floor for the show.
“Dancing With the Stars” airs tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Time on the ABC Television Network.
