HOLLYWOOD, July 24, 2014 – Universal released today its first trailer for “Fifty Shades Of Grey,” the sexy, much-anticipated film that’s based on E.L. James’ eponymous blockbuster book.

James’ erotic novel has sold over 100 million copies, and the studio is hoping to spin the turnstiles for the new movie, scheduled for what Deadline Hollywood calls a “global rollout” that’s set to get underway February 11, 2015.

The big question in everyone’s mind: Will the book’s enthusiastic readers turn out en masse for the new film, just like fans of the Harry Potter books turned out in droves to see their favorite characters on the silver screen?

The main reason behind this question is the casting of relative unknowns Jamie Dorman. 32—an Irish model, musician and actor who plays Belfast-based serial killer pursued by Gillian Anderson in the ongoing BBC series “The Fall” —as hunky S&M specialist Christian Grey; and Dakota Johnson—the 24 year old daughter of TV star Don Johnson and  cinemactress Melanie Griffith—as the object of Grey’s afflictions, Anastasia Steele.

The trailer below, which gives us our first glimpse of these two characters, only hints at the film’s kinky content.
