In June, AMC released a video showing Nick (Frank Dillane) running from — something — we can presume is undead:
Now we know exactly what happened prior to Nick’s fearful fleeing as the first three minutes of the series premier has been released letting us know that Fear the Walking Dead will be a new kind of gore fest as Los Angeles wakes up to world gone mad – but without the understanding of the threat that lays beyond their doors.
And that is the drama of Fear The Walking Dead. In The Walking Dead Season Six, we all know where the dangers lie – the Walkers, The Wolves and Rick – while in FTWD no one know where the danger has come from.
We are on this learning curve together.
Tension will keep us on the edge of our viewer seats as we watch the realization that this is more than the flu dawns. The shows young, very cute, season opener protagonist Nick sees a friend who has become undead. Then there are the videos of police shootings as surprisingly resilient victims are shot, only to stand up and attack, are being played on every teens smart phone.
Yet adults seem to be oblivious to the reality of the threat. Maybe its that they are just too busy attempting to corral angry children escaping into drugs and the difficulty of broken families and newly merging households?
The long lasting denial of the threat is a stretch to understand. This is Los Angeles, land of the horror movie. They have never seen George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead?”
It’s a threat that fans of The Walking Dead know all too well. The Walking Dead Season Six promises us the largest herd we have yet to see and the final showdown between the Walker, Alexandria residents and The Grimes Gang – who do not plan to leave – despite Morgan’s unexpected appearance.
For seasoned fans of The Walking Dead there promises to be much screaming “he’s dead you idiot, run” from watchers.
Hardwick will return at the end of the Fear The Walking Dead’s 1st season run on October 4th, the week before the The Walking Dead’s Season 6 returns on October 11. Join Communities Digital News for that live chat as well.
