SAN DIEGO, October 19, 2014 – The nine couples remaining on “Dancing With The Stars” in week 7 need to get their hips and booty in gear. It’s time for one of the longest running theme weeks on the show, “Latin Week.”
Or perhaps it’s really “Pitbull Week.” Fans longing for the return of judge Len Goodman will have to wait another week. Sitting in for Latin Week is Cuban rapper “Mr. Worldwide,” Pitbull. Pitbull is a longtime friend and fan of the show, and should have more to offer than Jessie J. We also get a guest co-host. Former DWTS competitor Leah Remini will step in for Erin Andrews this week, who is working at the World Series for Fox Sports.
Three of the couples so far have revealed that they will dance to a Pitbull song: Jonathan Bennett and Allison Holker, Alfonso Ribiero and Witney Carson, and Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev. Will it help them, or hurt them? Either way, one judge’s score won’t make a lot of difference.
We get three Salsas, a Tango, Argentine Tango, Samba and Rumba this week, but we also get a Foxtrot from Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd and a Jazz routine from Jonathan Bennett and Allison Holker. Neither are dancing to a song you might think of as Latin. Qué haces, DWTS producers? Conspiracy theorists might believe they are trying to push these two couples down in the standings and off the show. Not that we would suggest such a thing.
Recall that no one was eliminated after last week’s “Switch-Up” performances. They were among the most lackluster mid-season dances in 19 seasons of the show. It was a temporary blessing, because those judges scores plus fan votes will be added to the previous week’s judges scores and fan votes to determine who goes home Monday.
Jonathan and Allison and Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater are in the biggest trouble and likely to go. But if Waltrip’s NASCAR Nation came out in support with their votes, it’s going to be the “Mean Girls” actor who leaves the show.
