WASHINGTON, June 29, 2017 – As always, trading hours are affected by national holidays, and next week is no exception. Here are the general rules for trading hours on U.S. and Canadian exchanges for America’s Independence Day and Canada’s Canada Day holiday celebrations:
MONDAY, JULY 3, 2017: Pre-Market Trading takes place at its standard time. But U.S. equity, option, and listed corporate bond markets will close early at 1:00 p.m. ET. Given this early closing, After Hours Trading will take place from 1:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET. Other bond markets, not to include listed bond markets will close early at 2:00 p.m. ET. Fixed income orders placed after 2:00 p.m. ET on Monday, July 3, 2017 will be entered for the next business day, Wednesday, July 5, 2017.
TUESDAY, JULY 4, 2017: All U.S. markets (including equity, option, and fixed income) will be closed in observance of Independence Day. That closure includes Pre- and After Hours-Trading sessions.
CANADIAN MARKETS: Closed Monday, July 3, 2017 in observance of the July 1 Canada Day holiday. Orders for Canadian securities on Monday, July 3, 2017 will be routed to U.S. markets if there is a market available. If there is no market available, Day orders will be cancelled out at the end of the day. Canadian Markets will be open on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Any Canadian equity orders placed after the close of the U.S. Market on Monday, July 3, 2017, will route to the Canadian exchanges on Wednesday, July 5, 2017.
