Confusion, disarray, violence: What the hell is going on in Baltimore?

Nothing about the situation in Baltimore makes sense.

INDIANAPOLIS, April 28, 2015 – What the hell is going on in Baltimore?

“Freddie Gray was well-known to the police.” So what? They saw him ride his bike away after he and cops made eye contact. They found a switchblade on him after they took him down, but had no clue he was in possession of it earlier. He wasn’t being arrested or even questioned, but the police ran him down and eventually killed him. What the hell?

Witnesses say Gray was “folded up” before he was shoved into the van, where he was not properly restrained — or restrained at all. The police picked up another person while Gray was in the van, but that person has not been identified, so the press can’t ask anything there. There is no information about how that second person has been briefed in the meantime.

What the hell?

The cops, all of the ones involved in the death of Grey, are on paid leave (that’s “vacation” to civilians).

What the hell?

Not only was his back broken, either in the apprehension or on the “rough ride” subsequent to it, resulting in his death — the autopsy says his voice box was crushed. How does that happen, absent some heavy hitting?

What the hell?

Videos from the area weren’t even sought for over a week, plenty of time for some of them to be written over. And the police are saying that Police have promised to “release more video as it becomes available.” That’s curious. It seems to imply that all video that has been gathered has already been released.

What the hell?

It’s been two weeks since he was killed. The cops and administration have closed ranks. Evidence is at least being suppressed, if not destroyed or altered.

What the hell?

Freddie was laid to rest today. Let’s hope that whatever the investigators come up with has a few facts in it, and that some of the murderers get what they deserve. …and the thugs are organizing rioting to cover their looting and vandalism.

What the hell?

Today, the consensus on the spelling of Freddie’s last name is “Gray.” I didn’t know for sure when I wrote this piece, so I’ve used both “Grey” and Gray” in the piece. I apologize for whichever is the incorrect spelling. –TK
