GIVAT SHMUEL, Israel, April 2, 2014 — The internet has placed a vast amount of information at the finger tips of anyone with access to a computer or a smart phone. This has produced numerous side-effects that, for better or worse, have changed the way we learn and recall information.
In his eye-opening study on our obsession with technology, “iDisorder”, Dr. Larry D. Rosen notes an interesting symptom afflicting the search-engine generation. Rosen cites a study by researcher Betsy Sparrow of Columbia University coined “The Google Effect.” According to Sparrow, “our constant habit of checking Google for any tidbit of information that strikes our fancy has trained us to use the internet as a specialized external memory … if someone knows they will have future access to information on the internet … they won’t remember information as well as if they are told it will not be available.”
Perhaps President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry are suffering from the Google Effect. Luckily for them, there is a website called letmegooglethatforyou.com which allows you to send a lazy peer a short video demonstrating how he can Google information for himself, instead of asking you.
Before welcoming him with open arms at the White House, Obama should have done his due diligence on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Additionally, Kerry should have properly vetted Abbas before running over to Israel to exert last-minute pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu because the PA put a clock on the long-doomed-to-fail peace negotiations.
It appears that neither Obama nor Kerry came up with anything negative about the PA leader whose PhD dissertation was titled, “The Other Side: The Secret Relationship Between Nazism and Zionism”.
So, Mr. President and Mr. Secretary, let us Google him for you.
A brief and rudimentary internet search of Abbas yields horrifying, yet hardly shocking, results.
One of the first articles found is titled “Mahmoud Abbas honors terror leader with “Star of Honor” decoration.” The author, from the NGO, Palestinian Media Watch, writes, “Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has awarded the ‘highest order of the Star of Honor’ to arch-terrorist Nayef Hawatmeh.” Hawatmeh was the head of the murderous Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP).
The DFLP is responsible for the slaughter of hundreds of Israelis from the 1970s until today, including “22 schoolchildren and four adults after taking them hostage in Ma’alot” and “the killing of nine children and three adults in an attack on a school bus.” The author notes that, “Abbas himself signed the PA declaration decorating Hawatmeh with the Star of Honor, which praises Hawatmeh’s ‘efforts to raise the flag of Palestine since the launch of the Palestinian revolution.'”
Perhaps this was just a one-time thing and Abbas was unclear about who exactly Hawatmeh was. If only there were a way to check whether Abbas has a pattern of glorifying people who have cut down innocent civilians in cold blood. Oh right, back to Google!
An elementary search resulted in such news articles as “Abbas praises ‘steadfast’ mother of terrorist who killed 2”, “Video Shows Abbas Calling Terrorists ‘Heroes’ 4 Times” and many many more.
It may be that Obama and Kerry thought that, even though Abbas condoned terrorism, it isn’t really that egregious considering he was throwing his weight behind his own people, and he was possibly keeping himself protected from potential backlash from the Hamas terrorist regime in Gaza as well. His link with terror attacks against Israeli can’t possibly go farther them simply voicing his support for martyrs, can it? Let’s hit the “search” button one more time.
Readers need not do their own search here, just simply press play on the video below:
For those with low bandwidth, the video above features PA President Mahmoud Abbas, in his own Arabic words, admitting on television that he SENT terrorists into Israel to kill civilians. Even those who have heard Abbas speak with vitriolic hate for the Jewish State on a daily basis are taken aback by this brazen on-air admission.
Is it possible Obama and Kerry have never seen this?
Now let us look at the exact wording of President Obama’s welcome to Abbas at the White House last month.
According to WhiteHouse.gov, Obama said, “I have to commend President Abbas. He has been somebody who has consistently renounced violence (emphasis added), has consistently sought a diplomatic and peaceful solution that allows for two states, side by side, in peace and security; a state that allows for the dignity and sovereignty of the Palestinian people and a state that allows for Israelis to feel secure and at peace with their neighbors.”
Is Obama delusional, indifferent or implicit? There doesn’t appear to be a fourth option. His words can be refuted with a Google search any American teenager could perform.
The time has long since passed for the world to finally call out, not only the duplicitous Abbas but President Obama, as well for his sinister dishonesty and ingenuousness. If his maniacal deceitfulness continues to go unchecked it is terrifying to think of what will happen when someone Googles “the western world” 20 years from now.Click here for reuse options!
