The media is woefully inadequate in covering Iraq, ISIS, Benghazi and more
CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 19, 2015 – The most surprising thing about ISIS capturing Ramadi is how surprised the media were that it happened.
The question was never will it happen, but when.
Americans arrogantly believe that we believe we can train other armies to fight our battles. We spend billions of dollars doing it, only to see those armies turn tail and run as soon as we leave.
In November, 2016, Americans will go to the polls to vote for a new president. If Hillary Clinton wins, her administration will be a circus of scandal, turmoil and controversy. That is as predictable as the sun rising in the east every morning and Christmas falling on Dec. 25.
But when it happens, the media will be stunned that such a thing could occur.
In the current administration, the best barometer for knowing the seriousness of a crisis is to check Obama’s tee times. If he is on the golf course, the situation is dire. The links are his haven. When it gets too hot in the kitchen, you’ll find Obama playing golf.
Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Judicial Watch has determined that the attacks in Benghazi were planned at least 10 days before they took place in Libya.
According to Judicial Watch, “The new documents also provide the first official confirmation that shows the U.S. government was aware of arms shipments from Benghazi to Syria. The documents also include an August 2012 analysis warning of the rise of ISIS and the predicted failure of the Obama policy of regime change in Syria.”
Two items in that new information are critical. First, the Obama Administration was aware that jihadis were planning the attack well before it took place. Second, ISIS was hardly “the jayvee team” Obama alluded to in his comments at the time, even though that statement has long since been proven inaccurate.
What is most amazing about the Benghazi situation is how gullible the media were in accepting the YouTube video explanation.
Obama believes that leadership is nothing more than concocting crude lies with which to buy time while he creates more lies as a diversion. Given the 24/7 news cycle, the administration knows that eventually the lies will fade into the fog of continuously “breaking news” when a real crisis—the Ferguson riots, an earthquake in Nepal, Tom Brady takes a breathalyzer test, or Kim Kardashian has a butt reduction—gets Obama off the hook.
By the time the cycle runs its cycle, Obama’s lies are old news and all is forgotten. Little wonder then that the press was overwhelmed by a revelation that ISIS has moved into Ramadi and Iraq is now worse off than it was under Saddam Hussein.
George Bush warned us this would happen just before he left office; Obama assured us that he would bring an end to Bush’s war. Today, Bush still gets the blame while Obama is given a pass, even though ISIS did not exist until long after Bush left office.
Hillary Clinton is running for president, yet the sound of her silence with the press has been deafening. Even so, it is Republicans who are being asked the hypothetical questions about Iraq while nobody in the media, other than George Stephanopoulos, can get access to Clintons. When they do, Hillary, despite the fact that she was secretary of state at the time, will not receive the same scrutiny for her role in Benghazi.
According to Judicial Watch, “A violent radical was sent to set up Al Qaeda bases in Libya. The group’s headquarters was set up with the approval of a ‘member of the Muslim brother hood (sic) movement … where they have large caches of weapons. Some of these caches are disguised by feeding troughs for livestock. (T)hey train almost every day focusing on religious lessons and scriptures including three lessons a day of jihadist ideology.’”
Somehow, Obama and the equally astute Hillary knew nothing of this in advance, learning about it, just as you and I did, by reading the morning papers.
So now the media are shocked that Ramadi has fallen.
Thousands of Americans died in Iraq. Many thousands more were wounded and/or maimed for life, and for what? So the president of the United States and his cronies could maintain their cushy lifestyles at the expense of the American people by using phony rhetoric and keeping the Fourth Estate “in the dark.”
The time has come for the media to start doing their job.
