Why use Libido when “hot to trot” will do: Mike Huckabee’s dictionary dilemma

WASHINGTON, January 23, 2014 – Folks are jumping all over Mike Huckabee over his use of the word ‘libido’ in response to how he feels Democrats view women.  And everyone, including some Republicans, are stepping back in abject horror almost as though the former governor (R-AR) issued one of the few, still deadly words, used in connection with the fairer, more gentle sex.

So what is this horribly insulting  libido of which Mr. Huckabee speaks?

li-bi-do – the instinctual desire to have sex.

:  instinctual psychic energy that in psychoanalytic theory is derived from primitive biological urges (as for sexual pleasure or self-preservation) and that is expressed in conscious activity (Merriam Webster)

In November, Communities writer Judson Phillips wrote about the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative and their ad featuring Susie & Nate who are “hot to trot”  The ad copy reads “let’s hope he’s as easy to get as this birth control….”

As to the media ready to serve Huckabee on a platter for his use of this fancy three syllable word for “hot to trot”, if memory serves correctly, CNN did not  cover the advertisement’s affront to young women in their delightfully ad nauseam way, if at all.

Main Stream Media, which is roundly seen as the mouthpiece of the Obama administration, said nothing about the suggestive nature of the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative ads, which your taxpayer dollars did pay for.

But mums the word from the liberal side when the liberal side is promoting young women as inherently promiscuous, even when it comes to the ad of Ali, standing next to a cardboard stand up of “hottie” Ryan Gosling.

Doesn’t this ad show the Democrats true colors?  Aren’t they saying that Susie, like all young women, is not, as Huckabee presumes they say, in control of her ‘li-bi-do’?  Looking at Ali, I would say she is absolutely responding to some serious “primitive biological urge (for sexual pleasure)”.  Urges strong enough to have her “weeeeing” over a cardboard cut out of a Hollywood actor she will most likely never meet.

So someone explain to me what is so wrong with Huckabee using the term “li-bi-do”? Obviously Democrats don’t believe we women can control our sexual urges or make informed decisions about our sexual health or reproduction without their guidance.

Or maybe it is that they think that America, with its less than stellar educational standards, will be thrown by the use of a fancy three syllable word when “hot to trot” will do?

Or maybe that public ignorance means they get to take a word that any high school graduate, much less congressman or news anchor should know, and turn it into a dirty word that is somehow insulting to women.

All of which, as a woman and an educated person, I find as offensive as these ads. Rewrite the Constitution, but really leave the dictionary alone.

Luckily, with their Obamacare coverage, that you are paying for, if Ali and Susie are unable to “score” their “hotties” and climb aboard to get “lucky” with the assistance of government issued birth control, they can always climb aboard a kegger and just get drunk.

Without worrying about the cost of the ER bills when they fall off their high heels.
