The challenges of dealing with Boko Haram and other Islamic jihadists

CHARLOTTE, NC, May 12, 2014 – The Middle East and Africa have gone from a series of regional brushfires to a full-fledged conflagration that is now racing out of control.

Islamic jihadists have become emboldened in so many places throughout the world that tracking events is like trying to watch every Sunday NFL game at once.

Boko Haram is the terrorist group du jour, but while media attention has at long last focused upon the Nigerian Islamists, Syria is dealing with another inhumane organization of its own called ISIS or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

In order to get a better grasp of what we are witnessing around the globe, an article by Nicolai Sennels in “Jihad Watch” in October of 2013 provides great insight into the cultural psychology of Islam in easy to understand terminology

Writes Sennels, “While almost all other cultures changed from primitive and medieval to democratic and egalitarian societies, one culture managed to keep even its most brutal and backward traditions and values for 1,400 years until today. Getting to know life in Muslim families and societies is like traveling back in time to the time of Muhammad.”
Fir the most part that is relatively common knowledge, but Sennels continues, “most Islamic countries are still amputating limbs for theft, stoning women and homosexuals, heavily inbred, denying people free speech and democracy, and contributing absolutely nothing when it comes to science, human rights or peace.”

Such activities are commonplace today in northern Syria. As reported by Robert Spencer of “Jihad Watch,” ISIS is the most brutal and extreme of the political-military organizations engaged in the civil war in Syria…in reality against anyone who does not follow their extremist brand of Islam.”

As one female fighter stated in the same article, “They cut hands, cut heads, play with corpses.” Tactics which were personally observed in 2003 while watching “Al Jazeera” in Saudi Arabia.

The point being that while attention has finally become focused on Boko Haram, there are other atrocities happening that are equally horrible elsewhere.

Nicolai Sennels continues to explain, “while all other religions allow their followers to interpret their holy scriptures, Islam categorizes Muslims who do not take the Quran literally as apostates. And according to Islamic law, the sharia, apostasy is to be punished with death. The sharia thus makes it impossible for Islamic societies ever to develop into modern, humanistic civilizations.”

It is at this point that Sennels makes a shocking revelation that has yet to be reported by any source in mainstream media, but one which is also truthful based upon personal awareness. “Together with massive inbreeding — 70 percent of Pakistanis, 45 percent of Arabs and at least 30 percent of Turks are from first cousin-marriages (often through many generations) — this has resulted in the embarrassing fact that the Muslim world produces only one tenth of the world average when it comes to scientific research, and are dramatically under-represented among Nobel Prize winners. Fewer books have been translated into Arabic in the last thousand years than the amount of books translated within the country of Spain every year.”

Taken individually, such insights could possibly be challenged. but given the cumulative context of such cultural mores combined with the abundance of Islamic jihadist attacks since 9/11/01, the facts are difficult to deny.

As Pamela Geller reports in her blog “Atlas Shrugs”, “ a Jewish group that ascended the (Temple) Mount in recent days observed what may be the most egregious example of Temple Mount desecration yet – the dumping of trash right on the mount, just meters from the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which Muslims claim as their third-holiest site.”

True, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem is considered the holiest site in Judaism so it would not be surprising that an enemy would feel no remorse about desecrating the area by turning it into a garbage heap.

What is confounding however, is that the same site is regarded as the third most important site in Islam. Does that not indicate the degree of hatred and irrationality of Islam that they would befoul one of their own most revered places just to demean their enemy?

Meanwhile the Obama administration sent out the first lady to hold up a sign on Mother’s Day and to give the weekly presidential radio address as a symbolic condemnation of the Boko Haram kidnappings.

To be sure, no president can solve every problem in the world. Having said that, Barack Obama’s pathetic efforts at foreign policy in multiple regions, combined with his total disinterest and lack of understanding of global politics, have greatly empowered those whose goals are detrimental to a civilized world through our weakness.

It is not unrealistic, therefore, to wonder if the point of no return has been reached in the ability to counter Islamic jihad
