Obama’s foreign policy continues to flounder and the media notices

CHARLOTTE, N.C., August 11, 2014 — Judging from the media response this weekend to President Barack Obama’s latest foreign policy decision, it is clear the press has no better idea about what the president is doing than he does himself.

The airwaves and papers have become filled with phrases that have now become clichés: “disengaged”, “irresponsible”, “foolish”, “incompetence”, “detached”, “naïve” and on and on. The primary difference this time however, is that they are frequently uttered by liberal media.

The jokes about Obama’s elaborate vacations and numerous rounds of golf have become so common they are no longer worth mentioning. Turn up the heat and the president will get out of town as quickly as they can rev up Air Force One.

Meanwhile, the Islamic State took extremism to levels that rival the early days of the Prophet Muhammad with unimaginable acts against humanity. Some reports said ISIS buried several hundred people alive, including women and children. Another gruesome story reported that the terrorists had actually cut a five-year old child in half.

Such acts are no longer terrorism. They are out and out barbarism. It is time for the world to revolt.

In an effort to regain support for his foreign policy woes, Obama requested broadcast time to announce that he is resuming limited air attacks in Iraq in an attempt to quell the tide of extremism in the region. So inadequate were the president’s efforts at retaliation that several networks turned him down flat.

During a weekend interview, even New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, an adoring supporter of the president, struggled to get something of substance from Obama.

Friedman did state that “the president has a take on the world,” but Senator Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. countered, “This commander-in chief has no strategy, has no vision.”

In Obama’s dream world, there is absolutely no consideration that pulling out of Iraq and then bragging about it in one of his traditional “high-five” moments may have been a key factor in the rise of the Islamic State.

In fact, the president, in another typical Obama move, tried to evade responsibility for the pullout, claiming that Iraq did not want us there in the first place.

Several media outlets quickly responded with the president’s own words, when he boasted to the American people, “I am announcing that the American combat mission in Iraq has ended. Operation Iraqi Freedom is now over, and the Iraqi people now have lead responsibility for the security of their country.

“This was my pledge to the American people as a candidate for office. Last February, I announced a plan that would bring our combat brigades out of Iraq, while redoubling our efforts to strengthen Iraq’s security forces and support its government and people.”

Just a reminder: “al-Qaeda is dead,” and “you can keep your own doctor.”

Even someone as unlikely to challenge Obama as Andrea Mitchell said on “Meet the Press” Sunday that the president’s reason for not being fully informed about the ISIS threat was a “farce.”

“The fact is, there was intelligence,” said Mitchell. “To say they are shocked by Peshmerga on Saturday night is a farce. The White House wasn’t listening.”

Mitchell has just now come to realization that Obama has a hearing problem. When did he ever listen? To anyone about anything?

How low has the American presidency fallen when the man who holds the office brags about keeping his promise to get out of Iraq and then, in the same breath, says it was not his responsibility?

Sadly, every policy Obama has initiated, be it foreign or domestic, somehow manages to become enmeshed in confusion. When it comes to foreign policy, John Hayward writing for Breitbart called Obama “this foolish and irresponsible teenage President, the man whose endless blunders set the entire world on fire, looking down his nose at anyone else being ‘new'” to foreign policy. Heyward was referring to Obama’s childish denouncement of Mitt Romney’s international political skills during the 2012 presidential campaign.

As a president, Obama becomes increasingly impotent with each passing day. He is his own worst enemy. How the United States manages to emerge and re-establish itself from the muck, mire and dishonesty of this administration remains to be seen.

It can all be summed up into one word however, the most popular word Barack Obama has uttered during his tenure as president: “FORE!”
