CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 25, 2014 — Boston had its “Big Dig.” Now Washington has its “Big Lie(s),” and they are becoming more prevalent and larger by the minute.
It took nearly six years of distractions and phony rhetoric, but President Obama’s inept attempts at foreign policy have finally come back to haunt not only him, but the American people as well.
Remember the old campaign slogan, “Do you feel safer now than you did four years ago?” If you can honestly answer that question with a “yes,” then you have been hibernating during Obama’s entire time in office or drinking the media Kool Aid.
The Muslim Brotherhood operatives holding high positions in the White House are “moderate Muslims” who provide valuable insights into Islamic thinking. They have no ulterior motives or agenda.
Why then is there such concern over the latest terror organization to pop up on the Middle East radar, the Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), or as they are also known, the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)? Perhaps for two major reasons: First, this is not a terrorist group, it is a terrorist army; and second, they are by far the wealthiest terror organization in the world. Bad combination.
Pamela Geller of “Atlas Shrugs” tells us that ISIS is a misnomer. The more appropriate name is ISIL, because the Levant encompasses an area that includes Egypt, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Cyprus and parts of Turkey. In other words, the Levant is a vast geographical region that ISIL intends to control.
Also, keep in mind that the timing for ISIL’s activities could not be worse for the West; Ramadan is on the horizon, and atrocities tend to become magnified during the 30-day Islamic holy month.
Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry are going through the motions, but the reality is that they have no idea what to do. The problem is not going away any time soon, because the cumulative effect of the administration’s handling of all things Middle East and Islamic has now metastasized out of control.
ISIL is only in the opening stages of the game, while Obama has convinced the American people that the game is almost over. The problem is that Islamists have 14-centuries of staying power, and the West has ADD when it comes to global conflict.
That magnifies the danger of the situation. ISIL is attempting to conquer and establish enough territory to create a massive Islamic state without borders. Using this region as a training ground for idealistic homegrown Western terrorists, there is no need to establish a delivery system for attacks on the U.S. homeland. We let our “radicalized” citizens back in the country and the delivery system is literally in place.
ISIL has become so unwieldy in its scope and so financially powerful that it is now able to add unlimited funds to its coffers from Sunni sheiks in other Muslim countries that support their cause. For far too long, the United States has mistakenly regarded Saudi Arabia as an ally when the Saudis, like other Islamic nations, only make alliances when they are the beneficiary. It is the Muslim way.
Another common tactic is to coerce money from the places that ISIL attacks and conquers. This, too, is a centuries old Islamic strategy.
According to retired Army officer and military analyst Robert Maginnis speaking in “Atlas Shrugs”, “ISIL is planting the seeds for attacks on the West. Those battle-proven jihadists will eventually return to their Western homelands to carry on the jihad using the violent ways learned in Syria and Iraq. And now that (ISIL) controls a giant swath of the Middle East, the Western jihadists have a training platform, financing and (a) cheerleading state sponsor.”
It is not a pretty picture, but the worst aspect of the problem is that Washington under the current administration has no legitimate concept of how to deal with the situation. The Obama presidency is mired in scandals domestically and completely incompetent on the international stage.
The golf course and fund-raisers have long been Barack Obama’s refuge but during those periods when he has been disengaged, our enemies have been rising like the Phoenix from “the dead.”
Today they are larger and more dangerous than ever before.
