CHARLOTTE, NC, June 17, 2014 — You can always tell when there’s an international crisis afoot: That’s when Barack Obama is on the golf course.
Not to worry. ISIS in Iraq is just a “bump in the road.” A mere glitch in the grand scheme of things.
But for those who think the situation in Syria and Iraq is a bit more serious, here is a story that provides some insight as to how we arrived at this point in our Middle Eastern foreign policy.
To drive the message home, this story is being written backwards with all the details up front and the ironic little twist at the end.
Political junkies may know who Mohamed Elibiary is, but for the most part, he is not exactly someone who is a household name. As a prolific Twitter user, Mr. Elibiary recently became involved in an online debate where he was asked the question, “Please show me just ONE example of an Islamic country where non-Muslims are treated with equality?”
Eilbiary replied with the following Tweet, “America and yes I do consider the United States of America an Islamic country with an Islamically compliant constitution. Move on!”
Agree or disagree, Elibiary has a right to his opinions. He also openly supports the Muslim Brotherhood as well as convicted terrorist fundraisers.
As Pamela Geller of “Atlas Shrugs” points out, “(Elibiary) previously praised the late Muslim Brotherhood ideologue Sayyid Qutb, whose ideas have undergirded the modern jihadist movement – especially his call for violent jihad and for the purification of Islam from the forces of unbelief.”
Adding more background, Geller writes, “Qutb believed that if the Caliphate – abolished in 1924 – ever were to be re-established, that a vanguard would need to replace the regime of one country with an Islamic state, much as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) aims to do in Iraq and Syria.”
As recently as last week David Reaboi, a former official with the Center for Security Policy (CSP), Tweeted Elibiary to ask whether ISIS’ actions should anger Americans.
Elibiary replied by saying that it is “inevitable that the Caliphate returns.”
In addition, Elibary’s Twitter profile features the hand signal of the new global jihad revolution which is “R4BIA.” The hand gesture is a four-fingered salute that is associated with the Muslim Brotherhood.
In a recent interview with “The Clarion Project” Elibiary stated that in sociological terms the Christian right is similar to the Muslim Brotherhood in that they are both “pragmatic” and “non-violent.”
While much of the controversy over Elibiary rages beneath the radar, including the mainstream press, two lawmakers on Capitol Hill are paying close attention. Both Michele Bachmann (R – Minn) and Louie Gohmert (R – Texas) have openly criticized Elibiary for his remarks, particularly in light of recent events in the Middle East in Syria and Iraq.
So why should all this attention be given to one man with controversial points of view? Because Mohamed Elibiary is one of Barack Obama’s operatives who works closely as a presidential advisor.
You read that correctly. Mohamed Elibiary is a Muslim Senior Advisor for the president of the United States in, of all places, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
As Pamela Geller asks, “What is this embed doing at the Department of Homeland Security? He should be under constant surveillance by that very department.”
Perhaps it is much ado about nothing, but given the current status of terrorism throughout the world, does it really make sense to light matches next to an open can of gasoline?
Heads are literally rolling through the streets of Iraq, but Barack Obama has everything well in hand as he makes the turn, and his DHS advisor calls for the Caliphate.
Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture?
