CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 24, 2015 — No one reinforces an argument better than a convert, and Nonie Darwish is a perfect example.
Darwish is an Egyptian-American who drank the Islamic Kool-Aid until 1978, when she moved to the United States and became a Christian. As director of Former Muslims United, Darwish is a critic of Islam who emphasizes women’s and minority rights in the Middle East.
When Darwish calls Islam a “sinister force,” she knows what she is talking about. In one sentence she sums up the hypocrisy of Islamists and their advocates: “It is hard to comprehend that an entire region and its culture believes God orders the killing of unbelievers.”
Darwish writes that the Quran is “violent, incendiary, and disrespectful.” True. You need read just a few of its pages to discover that fact for yourself.
In light of the recent surge of Syrian refugees into Europe and the Paris attacks, Darwish makes uncommon sense when she says, “The only nation that stood up to Islamic terror and enslavement was Israel. Historically, most nations in the Middle East caved in to Islam and abandoned the Jews. Eventually former Christian nations like Egypt and Turkey were given the kiss of death by the Dracula of Islam, but the Jews of the Middle East either escaped or lived under Islamic terror, but never compromised their beliefs.”
In the context of how President Barack Obama is dealing with the Middle East, that comment brings the picture into clear focus.
Responding to Obama, who said, “The vast majority of these refugees (from Syria) are victims of the same violence and terror we have seen in Paris,” Darwish replies that he speaks “as though the Middle East is divided between the good victims of terror and the bad perpetrators of terror. I have news for Obama. Everyone in the Middle East was or is the victim of terror; terrorists have themselves tasted Islamic terror.”
Darwish hits the nail squarely on the head when she describes how so-called “moderate Muslims” react to the problem.
What struck me was the way they (moderate Muslims) viewed terrorism. To them it felt like a natural disaster or part of life that must be tolerated and dealt slowly with. To them they must never openly reject or upset the terrorist.
Like the moderate Muslims, President Obama appears to have an approach of denial and tolerance of Islamic terrorism and is encouraging Americans and the media to do the same.
Then Darwish adds the kicker, which explains why Israel has the correct approach to global terror and offers a clue about how to resolve this centuries-old problem.
But this approach of forcing the victims of Islamic terrorism to tolerate terrorism as part of life is exactly what Islam wants from the West. It is Islam’s preferred technique to conquer and enslave.
When you read what Darwish is saying and then observe how Obama approaches the Middle East, Israel and global terror, you see that we pursue a strategy that has left the United States and the West vulnerable to the onslaught of Islamic jihad.
Darwish explains to Westerners why moderate Muslims respond to terrorism in seemingly contradictory and confounding ways. “Average Muslims have been led to believe that they are victims of the outside world and not Islam,” she says.
Regardless of whether you agree with Obama, it is a fact that one of his parents was a Muslim, and during his formative years he lived in an Islamic environment. That alone is enough to make clear why “Obama is most passionate when he defends Islam and ignores terrorism. He wears it as a badge of honor.”
What is most disheartening about all of this is that the American people elected Obama not once, but twice. Now we are reaping the fruits of his seven-year plague on our American values, morality and system of government.
If it continues, Darwish warns, “Before we know it, our children will be living in a full-blown Arab spring right here in America and Europe.”
Are we really that naïve? Are we really that blind? Are we really that stupid?
Apparently we are.
