In heaven there is no beer; that’s why we drink it here

In which a pair of happy-go-lucky German beer experts taste test an allegedly new brewski from a famous American brewery. The world will never be the same.

Just in time for Labor Day picnics and festivities: an entirely new flavor of beer. (Screen shot of YouTube video)

WASHINGTON, Sept. 4, 2015 − One of our Facebook friends (we won’t say which one) recently posted an amusing YouTube video. It was apparently recorded earlier this year as an April Fool’s Day item by a pair of fun-loving German beer aficionados who post as “Die BierProbierer” (“The BeerTester”). This should give you a clue about what follows.

But given that the upcoming U.S. Labor Day Holiday marks the semi-official final weekend of summer — that bittersweet interval before school starts and vacations end — we thought this uniquely provocative video deserved, umm, another round.

So let’s watch Hans and Franz (or whatever their real names actually are) as they sample what they allege to be a new brew from Sam Adams. Its sprightly flavor notes and jolly atmospherics rely on the presence in its recipe of a certain inert gas. You’ll readily identify which one after you watch our beer experts take their first swig.

Don’t know German? Not to worry. Language is no impediment in this video.

Or you can watch a US Version of the spoof:

Our apologies to Sam Adams.

Have a happy and safe Labor Day holiday. And drink responsibly. We’re sure Die BierProbierer would agree.
