SAN DIEGO, May 14, 2016 – Of the many variations on ballroom dance themes each season on “Dancing With The Stars,” the Trio dances have produced some of the most memorable routines ever on the show.

Donald Driver, Peta Murgatroyd and Karina Smirnoff made a big impression with his high energy Jive trio in Season 14, the first season for the Trios. He went on to win. Melissa Rycroft turned the corner with her Paso Doble trio with Tony Dovolani and Henry Byalilov during Season 15; she also went on to win.

So did Alfonso Ribiero and Witney Carson after their Paso Doble trio with Lindsay Arnold. It’s so good it’s worth seeing again to see how it’s done.

But even when someone goes home, the Trios are always a joy to watch. No one had more fun than Melissa Gilbert with the Chmerkovskiy brothers in her Season 14 trio.

So we can’t wait to see the five Trios this Monday.

Join the CommDigiNews.com virtual ballroom fan chat, starting with the first dance at 8:00 p.m. et.

For the trio dance, Ginger Zee and Valentin Chmerkovskiy add Artem Chigvintsev. Antonio Brown and Sharna Burgess add Hayley Erbert. Wanyá Morris and Lindsay Arnold bring in Witney Carson. Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas add Alan Bersten. Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd partner with Jenna Johnson.

The couples perform a style they haven’t yet attempted for their individual dances. We will see Contemporary, Quickstep, Argentine Tango, Charleston, Jive, Samba or Paso Doblé.

There will be a double elimination, based on last week’s combined judges’ scores and viewer votes, determining the final three couples who will go on to the finals to vie for the mirrorball.

On last week’s leaderboard, Wanyá Morris ended up in a surprising place at the bottom after a rough week. Judges scores are so close together fan votes will be the determining factor. Can he stage a come from behind victory with help from Boyz II Men fans? Is the final remaining NFL player peaking at just the right time? Will there be a sunny forecast for our TV meteorologist? Could America’s Next Top Model become America’s latest Mirror Ball Trophy champion? Will an MMA star knockout her opponents and win?

Week 8 Leaderboard

Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd: 58 points
Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas: 57 points
