ATLANTA, July 17, 2016 – Making her home in Albany, Georgia, several hours away from Atlanta, Lara Lyn Carter has done amazing things during her career as a cook. She’s become a notable cookbook author and hosted her very own television show.
In the Emmy Award-winning show, Thyme for Sharing, Lara Lyn visits a new location in the Southeastern United States, and highlights some of the historic buildings and regional specialties. After tasting the special dishes of the city she visits, Lara Lyn puts her own twist for a delectable meal she can share with her husband and three boys.
Her latest book, “Southern Thymes Shared,” a collaboration with prominent Atlanta journalist, Doc Lawrence, Lara Lyn puts a healthy spin on Southern favorites and shows that southern food isn’t all about fried chicken and creamy, cheesy sauces.
What’s more, the book has wine pairings, eschewing the notion that all southern food should be served with sweet tea, which has often been called the table wine of the Aouth. Making the book even more approachable is the fact that most wines can be picked up at the grocery while you are shopping for items to make one of the delicious recipes.
What’s unique about this cookbook:
- The cookbook highlights the diversity in southern cuisine.
- Lara Lyn realizes that not everyone grew up cooking. Recipes are arranged by season or occasion. You don’t have to think about what side dishes to pair with recipes.

Lara Lyn also has a line of marinades and sauces called Wicker and Whisk. She developed these versatile sauces and marinades over the years and shares many of their recipes. They’ve become so popular with her friends and family that they often request them when she cooks for them.
