WASHINGTON, May 19, 2016 – NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service), CBS long running investigative series has closed a thirteenth season with more than its fair share of ups and downs. The show, a spin off of the popular JAG series, has won critical acclaim, winning ___ awards, and attracting some of television’s greatest talents in addition to Mark Harmon including Jamie Lee Curtis (2012), Richard Shiff (2012), Robert Wagner (2012-16), Diane Neal (2010-14), and Scott Bakula (2014-16).
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, a former Marine and a hard as nails interrogator and investigator, is the leader of a team of special agents belonging to the NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) Gibbs’ second in command is Senior Field Agent Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), a womanizing, movie-quoting former Baltimore Homicide Detective/ The team also consists of probationary field agent Eleanor Bishop (Emiliy Wickersham), a former NSA agent, as well as Junior Field Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), often mocked by DiNozzo for his technical skills.
Assisting them are Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), and Dr. Donald Mallard (David McCallum – Man from U.N.C.L.E, JAG (1995), NCIS (2003) and NCIS: New Orleans (2014) a medical examiner full of unusual stories and an M.E. that will not rest until the family of the victims receive closure.
We started this last season with a severely wounded. A terrorist organization which recruits teenagers, had a teen shoot Gibbs in the chest leaving his fate unknown until NCIS returned for season 13. Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), laying in a hospital bed, dreaming about walking with his long-dead daughter, unwittingly setting the tone of the season’s finale (warning: spoilers follow).
It was a season of love and loss.
The season caused all of the main characters to face some sort of challenge. The season reunited Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) with his first “love” Dr. Jeanne Benoit (Scottie Thompson). Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) faces the struggles of balancing a relationship with his girlfriend Delilah Fielding (Margo Harshman).
Following a difficulty recovery, the outwardly un-empathetic Gibbs faces the struggle of believing that he can still be there for his team.
Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham), the newest member of the NCIS team, finds out her husband is cheating on her, which causes her to go back to family for Thanksgiving and rethink her career and personal choices.
DiNozzo faces the challenge of raising his child, mom is Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), and deciding whether he can be a father and a special agent at the same time. While Gibbs is recovering throughout the beginning of the season, we finally see the quiet character open up to his doctor talking about “old wounds.”
Season 13’s main antagonist was Trent Thomas Kort, a one-eyed British national and a former CIA operative. CIA Agent Trent Kort, killed this season, is responsible for killing dozens of people. He killed Ziva David (supposedly) and injured FBI Agent and NCIS friend T.C. Fornell (Joe Spano).
Kort has been a thorn in the side of NCIS for years. He made appearances throughout most of the seasons to date.
Season 13, would be the final season for Tony DiNozzo, after a conversation with Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) he realizes that he needs to be just a father. Throughout the season finale, we see him having deep conversations with his teammates.
When a door closes, new windows open as one of the longest dramatic police procedural television series “NCIS” welcomes new cast members.
Tess Monroe, a role by Sarah Clarke and Clayton Reeves play by Duane Henry has been introduced to the series in Episode 23 “Dead Letter.” Monroe is an FBI Agent from Washington DC relocated to NYC, while Reeves is the M16 agent. The two new members are the certain replacements for Tony and Ziva.
The expected premiere date for NCIS Season 14 is sometime in September.Click here for reuse options!
