Melissa Harris-Perry of MSNBC cries racism one time too many

In Melissa Harris-Perry’s dismissal, there will be no storming of the gates or the MSNBC building to place her back in her imagined rightful place as host. We are all bored with her.

WASHINGTON, March 1, 2016 – For many liberals crying racism has become the “go to” phrase when it appears they need to dramatize some political point. Unfortunately for Melissa Harris-Perry when she uttered those all too familiar words, she was targeting her own network MSNBC.

Management did not take her battle cry too kindly and her Saturday morning news show which has been on the air since 2012 was promptly cancelled.

Anyone who is familiar with the liberal darts and arrows that she has hurled over the years on her show at conservatives, Christian causes and especially at the GOP, her dismissal may seem long overdue.

Yet, is there a valid point to her accusations she raised against her former network bosses?

The Saturday morning host of the NBCUniversal-owned cable-news outlet, has claimed that her show was preempted over the past several weeks far too many times. She claims that this action was a demonstration of racism.

Yet, unfortunately for the former news show host, her timing and her claims appears to carry little or no weight.

The stark reality is clear, MSNBC has been bleeding red ink in the ratings war and is well behind CNN and Fox News. According to the New York Times, the network is in the midst of an overhaul which will be focused on more news and not so much on her racism and social justice alleged infractions.

The democrat and GOP primaries are news and her show has been preempted when there were primaries being held on the Saturdays which is when her show aired. That is the reality of being on a news network when political news is occurring you get bumped.

But that is not how the she saw it. She instead went even further to showcase her accusations of racism.

Harris-Perry stressed in a statement,

“I will not be used as a tool for their purposes. I am not a token, mammy, or little brown bobble head. I am not owned by Lack, Griffin, or MSNBC. I love our show. I want it back,” reported the New York Times. She added further that “I don’t want back on air at any cost. I am only willing to return when that return happens under certain terms.”

Well it seems that MSNBC was not willing or appeared to care about the terms that the former host wanted.

Perhaps if she had held a press conference with the Black Lives Matter organization or started her own organization “Black TV News Shows Matter” she could generate support since she always seemed to be consumed by racial division and booked guests who agreed with her on that point.

But alas, that is not to be. Much like the Academy Awards controversy concerning the absence of black Oscar nominees, will there be any mourning for black actors like Will Smith or wife Jada Pinkett-Smith, for boycotting the awards show? No, black actors and entertainers still attended the Academy Awards event.

In Melissa Harris-Perry’s dismissal, there will be no storming of the gates or the MSNBC building to place her back in her imagined rightful place as host.

Here is a news flash for the former celebrity race baiter, liberals in the establishment which you consider yourself to be a proud member of only need you when the want to make a point. That point is clear: racism only works when you point the finger at conservatives and not at liberals.

Perhaps MSNBC is waking up to the reality that the brand of news that the “MHP Show” was building since 2012 was not working for the network or for the viewers. Maybe four years of her screaming out insults and attacks without consequences was becoming politically passé.

Apparently the top honchos at MSNBC appear to differ with their former Saturday news host a lot and stressed in a statement,

In this exciting and unpredictable presidential primary season, many of our daytime programs have been temporarily upended by breaking political coverage, including MHP. This reaction is really surprising, confusing and disappointing.”

In the end, the only confusion that existed was in the mind of Melissa Harris-Perry. She seemed to believe that her liberal rants and targeted unshackled attacks on decent conservatives was news.

It was not and MSNBC and America has moved on. Without her.
