It is a delicious bit of timing and irony that the episode falls on Father’s Day. One of the unresolved storylines is the death sentence issued to Tyrion Lannister by his father, Tywin Lannister. Fans who have learned that no character is safe on this show are holding their breath to see if Tyrion can avoid seeing his father’s orders carried out. Despite having extra time this week, there are still many stories to cover. Jon Snow is on his way north to attempt an assassination of Mance Rayder. Arya Stark and The Hound must set a new course having been turned away at the Eyrie following her Aunt Lysa’s death. Bran Stark, the Reeds and Hodor are headed north to a glowing tree seen in the preview. Perhaps this will reveal his true destiny? Brienne of Tarth and Podrick Payne are also on the road, looking for Sansa Stark. Finally, it wouldn’t be right to end Season 4 without a visit to Meereen and a view of Daenerys and her dragons. Things haven’t exactly gone as The Mother of Dragons has hoped so far. Fans have been promised one more impressive battle scene and a bit more hopefulness before Season 4 is over. We will find out together if the producers make good on these promises. Game of Thrones returns with Episode 10 of Season 4, “The Children,” on Sunday, June 15, at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on HBO East and HBO Latino East (with Spanish subtitles); followed by airings on HBO West and Latino West at 9 p.m. Pacific Time. All four channels repeat the episode through the evening.
