WASHINGTON, January 6, 2015 – Game of Thrones, HBO’s successful series based on the George R. Martin series, is set to become the first TV series shown on IMAX’s screens this month.

HBO and IMAX have announced that two episodes from season four, remastered in the giant screen format will be followed by a trailer for Season 5. The special IMAX showing will run for one week, January 23-29.

HBO has not released information as to which episodes, but we might guess they are the last two shows of the 4th season.

Episode 9 for Season 4 of “Game of Thrones” followed a single storyline: the Battle at Castle Black, the last stand against the wildling hordes led by Mance Rayder and epic battle scene at the wall and in Castle Black

And the final episode ending with Ayra Stark on the ship headed for Braavos beautiful on the big screen.

“The cinematic brilliance and grand scope of the series is perfect for the IMAX format,” said Pamela Levine, HBO’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We are always looking to provide fans with new and exciting ways to experience the show, and viewing two key episodes, along with the new trailer, on such an impressive platform makes for a great event.”

Despite the fact that the show has been on hiatus since last June, last month Game Of Thrones was named the most-searched TV show on Google in 2014 and the most talked-about series on Facebook.

It’s up for Best Drama Series at both the Golden Globes and WGA Awards. It also led the 2014 Emmy nominations field with 19 but won only four.

Game of Thrones and HBO are masters at keeping fans wanting more!
