WASHINGTON, June 14, 2015 – After waiting 10 months for the return of “Game of Thrones” this year, it is hard to grasp the reality of Season 5 coming to a close Sunday on HBO. Ever harder for many to grasp is how far the TV series has veered away from the plot lines in the novels.
And there will be a lot to talk about before, during and after the tonight’s season 5 finale.
Most GOT watchers anticipate seeing a game changing scene involving Cersei and the justice rendered to her by the High Sparrow who demands that Cersei beg for the Mother’s Mercy in confessing her sins.
It is a fall from grace unlike any other character in the novels, and it’s not really a spoiler to say it doesn’t involve her death. News about the scene being filmed leaked from the sets in Croatia due to local protests about the situation, coupled with photos confirming the circumstances.
If you aren’t aware of what happens, we envy you: it will be a head blown off your shoulders moment to savor.
One thing we can always count on is the unexpected. Heroes and children die. Villains prevail. Plots thicken and schemes succeed.
