The stars shake it, but one will break it and be the first to go home in Week 2.
SAN DIEGO, March 26, 2016 – Season 22 kicked off with strong performances on “Dancing With The Stars.” So it’s time to bring the heat and see who’s got the moves to make it through the season in Week 2.
The 12 celebrities all return for Latin Night, one of the show’s favorite themes. All couples will perform one of the Latin ballroom styles: Rumba, Salsa, Samba, Paso Doble, Cha Cha, or Argentine Tango.
It will be the final appearance for one couple who will be the first to go home at the end of the night.
Couples drew the following assignments:
Antonio and Sharna: Rumba, “Adorn” by Miguel
Doug and Karina: Paso Doblé, “Buster Voodoo” by Rodrigo y Gabriela
Geraldo and Edyta: Salsa, “Ran Kan Kan” by Tito Puente
Ginger and Val: Samba, “Sorry” by Justin Bieber
Jodie and Keo: Samba, “Bun Up the Dance” by Dillion Francis, Skrillex
Kim and Sasha: Salsa, “Conga” by Gloria Estefan
Marla and Tony: Argentine Tango, “Don’t” by Ed Sheeran
Mischa and Artem: Cha Cha, “Pata Pata” by Miriam Makeba
Nyle and Peta: Rumba, “Stole the Show” by Parson James
Paige and Mark Ballas: Salsa, “Danza Kuduro” by Don Omar featuring Lucenzo
Von and Witney: Cha Cha, “Ain’t Too Cool” by LunchMoney Lewis
Wanya and Lindsay: Salsa, “Echa Pa’lla” by Pitbull
Sitting at the bottom of the leaderboard last week were Geraldo and Edyta, Doug and Karina, and Mischa and Artem. Based on the assignments in Week 2, Mischa may escape a poor score with the relatively easy Cha Cha Cha. But she may lack the fan votes to help her. Geraldo and Doug both have fans to help overcome their shortcomings as dancers.
Appearing Friday with his colleagues at Fox News on “The Five,” Geraldo Rivera said he finally said yes to appearing on DWTS after being asked many times, and now he can finally cross the experience off his bucket list. Rivera said he really wants to do his Salsa to fellow Puerto Rican music legend Tito Puente justice. Rivera had nothing but praise for his pro partner Edyta Sliwinska. Let’s hope Geraldo gets his kicks in Week 2, because he may well be going home.
“Dancing With the Stars” returns for week 2 and the first elimination on Monday, March 28 at 8 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Time on the ABC Television Network.
