Selena Owens Communications Director joins hosts Kevin Fobbs to update listeners on the progress of Sing It America's September 14 event on the National Mall.

The National Anthem’s celebration is more essential than at any time in the nation’s history

WASHINGTON, Aug. 19, 2015 – On Sept. 14, 2015, at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., Sing It America will bring those that love our Star-Spangled Banner together to celebrate the past year’s “National Thanksgiving for the Star-Spangled Banner.”

Selena Owens, Sing It America’s Communication’s director, joins Freedom’s gate to update listeners on this historic event, including a program of other events to coincide with their “From Dawn’s Early Light to Dawn’s Early Light” theme.

America’s national anthem is the nation’s patriotic anchor for American national defense, according to Sing It America, a national organization dedicated to the celebration of the National Anthem Bicentennial Year of Thanksgiving.

Last year Sing It America officially partnered with the government commission Starspangled200 and Friends of Fort McHenry to secure passage of U.S. Senate Resolution 550. Resolution 550 designated the period of September 2014 through September 2015 as the year of National Thanksgiving for the Star-Spangled Banner.

The Senate resolution encouraged “All state and local governments and the people of the people of the United States to observe this period of thanksgiving with appropriate ceremonies, activities, educational outreach and reflection.”

Veterans, member of Congress, school children, political leaders, national speakers and many surprise guests will join for a day of non-partisan patriotism. Included in the celebration will be noted national singers, musicians, bands and choirs to take part in honoring the historical importance and national heritage the national anthem represents.

All Americans are being encouraged to sign up and register right now with Sing It America to join in the historic festivities that day, according to Owens.

A special request is being made to supporters to lend financial support to the historic event.

Owens will Join Standing at Freedom’s Gate host Kevin Fobbs to discuss an update on the event and the exciting plans in store for attendees.

Owens is also vice chair of the Conservative Campaign Committee PAC and author of “The Power Within a Conservative Woman: Engaging America for God Family, and Country.”

Listen to Standing at Freedom’s Gate live at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday here on CommDigiNews.  Show then available On Demand:
